One Heckuva Imprint

This article has been edited and included in The Leadhead's Pencil Blog Volume 4; copies are available print on demand through Amazon here, and I offer an ebook version in pdf format at the Legendary Lead Company here.

If you don't want the book but you enjoy this article, please consider supporting the Blog project here.

This one turned up at the Ohio Show - I can’t remember who had it:

It’s an Edison with a wonderful imprint:

This one appears to have the lines of an early Rex product, which I would expect, since I’ve found an Edison from the “four horsemen” family of Rex pencils - see http://leadheadpencils.blogspot.com/2015/01/two-out-of-four-horsemen-aint-bad.html).  It also has a mysterious portal on the side of the barrel:

It’s similar to the one found near the bottom of the barrel of an Artcraft I wrote about some time ago – also from the Rex family (that article was posted at http://leadheadpencils.blogspot.com/2013/07/rex-redux.html):

On the cap of the Edison, there’s what I believe is a model number assigned by Rex itself:

“20ER.”  Suppose this was a Rex model 20, made for Edison (E), in a ringtop (R)?
