Clear As They Come

My father, Roger Veley, is quite the Autopoint collector. When he dropped by my table at the Ohio Show to show me this one, I had to confess I didn’t understand what was special about it:

He said that it was a clear demonstrator and very unusual:

I was used to seeing translucent-barrel Autopoints, which is why I didn’t catch what he was talking about at first. Here’s one example, the fluorescent pink one that I picked up from Michael McNeil a while back:

But on closer examination, the top on my dad’s example is much later than the large gold filled bell tops of the late 1920s:

And the barrel isn’t just translucent – it’s completely colorless!
