Joe Takes the Sting Out

Joe Nemecek didn’t want this one, and so he offered it to me at the Raleigh show last June:

It’s an impressively large pencil, measuring a full 6 inches, and in perfect condition. It’s completely unmarked, which usually puts things like this outside of my area of interest, but in this case I made an exception, since I could tell just by looking at it where this one came from:

That’s the unmarked pencil next to a Redipoint "Aristocrat" offered by Brown & Bigelow of St. Paul, Minnesota. Underneath the cap was both the reason Joe wasn’t interested in this one as well as the reason I had to have it:

Some months ago I was whining a little about letting a Redipoint lighter pencil slip through my grasp (the story was at http://leadheadpencils.blogspot.com/2013/07/i-wish-i-could-remember-what-i-did-with.html). I won’t be so quick to let someone pry this one away from me!

Where did you find the "Aristocrat" name? I just obtained one of these models and have been looking for information on it but can't find much. Any idea when these pencils were made?
